The Evergreen Chorale (EC) is a vibrant community choir which offers music education and performance opportunities for our multi-generational membership. Since its “birth” in 1972 when a group of friends gathered around a piano, the EC has grown to a diverse body of over 100 talented and committed performers and partnered with several performing arts organizations throughout Jefferson County and the greater Denver area to present choral concerts for a wide variety of patrons from throughout the region.

The EC began as a small community singing group and has evolved tremendously over the past 48 years into one of the premier community choirs in the state and become the owner of Center Stage as well as a producer of high-quality musicals noteworthy for the professional caliber of its performers, a concert series, and Summer Music Camp. In addition, we now have a chamber choir, Altezza. Because of the extent of all these endeavors, in 2018 we created “Ovation West Performing Arts” as an umbrella under which all of our activities are united, yet distinct.  The EC draws members, performers, and patrons from within and well beyond the mountain community; a testament to its success and growing reputation.

Christine Gaudreau, Artistic and Musical Director

Christine Gaudreau is now in her tenth season as the EC’s artistic and musical director. Her energy and vision have enabled the Chorale to expand in terms of membership and artistic reach, enhancing the quality of its musical productions and establishing partnerships with such noted groups as the Jefferson Symphony Orchestra, Colcannon, The Queen City Jazz Band, Fiesta Colorado, Rocky Mountain Brass Works, Kutandara and the Evergreen Chamber Orchestra. Under her direction the Chorale was recognized in the Denver Post and in 5280 Magazine. The Chorale’s 2017 production of “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” received five BroadwayWorld Denver Awards, and its 2016 production of “My Fair Lady” received eight 2016 BroadwayWorld Denver Awards – in both cases, Ms. Gaudreau was named Best Music Director of a musical. Christine holds degrees in voice performance, music education and music history and a Master’s in Conducting.

In July 2016 Christine led the Chorale on a European Tour, visiting Italy, Austria, and Germany. During the tour they had the privilege of singing at mass at St. Mark’s in Venice, the Salzburg Dom in Austria, and in the Regensburg Cathedral in Christine’s home town in Germany. Other recent highlights include study with Helmuth Rilling at the International Bach Festival in Oregon, study with Dr. Brady Allred and in 2015, study at the International Yale Choral Festival in the C21C Conducting Master Class. Christine also maintains an active voice studio and her students have been accepted for admission at the Julliard School of Music, the Cincinnati Conservatory, the Peabody Institute of Music, the Lamont School of Music, and many others. In 2017 Christine was the producer and music director for “The Hunchback of Notre Dame”, a Colorado premiere at Center Stage.
