It is with great sadness that we announce the cancellation of Ovation West’s production of Ragtime. From the beginning, we were dedicated to performing Ragtime only, if we could do it correctly and respectfully, very specifically with equitable representation throughout our cast. After losing multiple cast members for their own personal reasons, that representation within the cast became imbalanced. In the best interest and respect for our cast, community, and this story, we felt cancelling was the only appropriate action to take.
We are immensely proud and grateful of the beautiful and sensitive work done in rehearsals by our creative team and for the time, skill, and emotional contributions of our wonderful cast. A big thanks goes out to our designers and set builders for their vision and many hours of hard work, as well as to our administrative staff.
Thank you to our patrons, sponsors, and flex pass holders for their continued support. If you purchased tickets, you will be contacted by a member of our box office staff for refunds/exchanges.
We believed that this difficult story was worth telling again, as so many of its themes are unfortunately as relevant today as they were then and must be confronted. We will take the time to reflect and grow and do better as an organization so we can tell stories that respectfully celebrate all types of voices and communities. We look forward to connecting with you, our artists, actors, and audience again for another show.
