Experience music of America, celebrating its history, ideals, and beauty at "Lincoln Portrait," presented by the Evergreen Chorale in collaboration with the Evergreen Chamber Orchestra.The performances will take place on March 28 and 29 at Wellshire Presbyterian Church in Denver.
Under the musical direction of Christine Gaudreau, the Evergreen Chorale will perform the works of quintessential American composer Aaron Copland. Written during World War II for choral and orchestras, "Lincoln Portrait" also features narration of excerpts from Abraham Lincoln's letters and speeches, including the Gettysburg Address.
The concert will also showcase Copland's Old American Songs" and "Fanfare for the Common Man," as well as Christopher Tin's new composition, "Let My Country Awake."
An optional pre-concert talk by Braver Angels, the nation’s largest cross-partisan, volunteer-led movement aimed at bridging the partisan divide for the good of our democratic republic, will be held prior to each concert.
