Vintage Theatre and Ovation West Theatre Company announce auditions for SISTERS OF SWING

AUDITION DATE: Sunday, October 13th from 6–9 pm
LOCATION: Vintage Theatre, 1468 Dayton St, Aurora

ABOUT THE SHOW: This book musical follow sisters LaVerne Maxene and Patty from their early days on the road through their rise as recording stars to entertaining American GIs overseas to their breakup. The score intermingles over twenty hit songs and goes beyond the ordinary to offer a unique perspective into these women as human beings, showing how the events of their lives shaped who they became to the rest of the world, The Andrews Sisters!
PAY: All actors will receive a $100 travel stipend and $45 per performance.
WHAT TO PREPARE: Please sign up for one of the time slots via the link below. Actors will be seen in the order they arrive the day of auditions. You do not need to stay the entire time. Please prepare a 16-32 bar cut of a song in the style of the show and one of the monologues in the attachment below.
BRING WITH YOU: Photo, resume, and conflicts for October – January.
REHEARSALS: Rehearsals will begin the week of October 28th. Please note tech week is immediately following the New Year’s Holiday. Actors will also need to be available for a few rehearsals leading up to opening night in Evergreen.
PERFORMANCES: Sisters of Swing is a co-production between Vintage Theatre and Ovation West Theatre Company. Performances will take place January 10 – 19th at Vintage Theatre in Aurora and January 24th – February 2nd at Center Stage in Evergreen. Actors must be available for the full run of the show at both venues. Rehearsals will take place between Aurora and Evergreen.
ROLES AVAILABLE (all roles are avail. no aea contracts avail.)
Seeking 3 strong female presenting Singer-Actors (and one swing) who move well. All three sisters must have excellent musical skill and the ability to sing three-part harmony. These actors will portray The Andrews Sisters from childhood to maturity.
Seeking 2 male presenting actors to play various roles. The actor playing the role of Vic must also be able to play piano-accompany a few select songs.
Patty: 20s-30s Lead singer, youngest sister. Clown of the group, adores the spotlight.
Maxene: 20s-40s Soprano, middle sister. Outspoken sister, always testing boundaries.
LaVerne: 20s-40s Alto, oldest sister. Closest to parents, tends to be a little mother. Plays the piano.
Man: 20s-40s Strong actor-singer. Plays a wide variety of characters throughout the show
Male Actor-Pianist: 20s-50s Plays Vic Schoen (the sisters arranger and Pattys love interest). Will also play select Ensemble roles throughout the show.
